Today, in the spirit of greater transparency with AdSense publishers, we’re sharing the revenue shares for our two main AdSense products — AdSense for content and AdSense for search.

As you may already know, AdSense is comprised of several products. The most popular are AdSense for content, which allows publishers to generate revenue from ads placed alongside web content, and AdSense for search, which allows publishers to place a custom Google search engine on their site and generate revenue from ads shown next to search results. Since AdSense for content and AdSense for search offer publishers different services, the revenue shared with publishers differs for each of these products.

AdSense for content publishers, who make up the vast majority of our AdSense publishers, earn a 68% revenue share worldwide. This means we pay 68% of the revenue that we collect from advertisers for AdSense for content ads that appear on your sites. The remaining portion that we keep reflects Google’s costs for our continued investment in AdSense — including the development of new technologies, products and features that help maximize the earnings you generate from these ads. It also reflects the costs we incur in building products and features that enable our AdWords advertisers to serve ads on our AdSense partner sites. Since launching AdSense for content in 2003, this revenue share has never changed.

Dear Publisher,

Yahoo! continuously evaluates and prioritizes our products and services, in alignment with business goals and our continued commitment to deliver the best consumer and advertiser experiences. After conducting an extensive review of the Yahoo! Publisher Network beta program, we have decided to close the program effective April 30, 2010. We expect to deliver final publisher payments for the month ending April 30, 2010 to publishers no later than May 31, 2010. All publishers eligible for 1099s for the 2010 tax year will have those mailed by January 31, 2011.

Because our content will no longer be delivered to your ad unit spaces after April 30, 2010, we recommend removing all YPN ad code from your pages by that date.

For the opportunity to continue earning revenue, we suggest using Chitika, a leading advertising network that syndicates Yahoo! Content Match and Sponsored Search ads. Chitika has set up a special process for YPNO beta publishers to participate in its platform. Click Here for more information.

We thank you for your participation in the Yahoo! Publisher Network beta. If you have any questions regarding this announcement, please contact our Support Team at (866) 785-2636, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PDT.
Sincerely,

The ASA hopes that the move will plug a regulatory gap that has resulted in two thirds of the complaints it receives relating to activity over which it has no authority.

Just found this interesting, regulation beyond a company's website itself…Telling companies online how they may behave on social media sites.
It does seem some sort of oversight is needed as they are getting complaints and have no influence in this media-sphere.

Starting with a brief explanation of what Twitter is:
Twitter is an incredible news feed and Micro-blogging in 140 characters or less.

Then the panel moved into the outline of Good Twitter Tips:

1#How to build a following:
Follow those that are in the sidebar of people you like, chances are they will have similar interest.

2#Good basic profile
Good Head Shot, description/bio, and link, you only get one link.
Twitter is searchable from google so make it authentic, about you and use your link.

3#Follow a few people and listen before you speak.
Get a feel for what is going on in your "new tribe/community"

4# write some great tweets…why?
So people will get a feel for what your twitter stream will be filled with.
What is a great tweet? Answering a question, being of service, being positive.
You can find question by searching twiiter using the "?" Both to answer questions and to find answers to your questions, much like people are using google and yahoo.

5# Follow the Leaders – where are the leaders located?
Check out:
WeFollow.com WeFollow is a directory of Twitter users organized by interests.
TwitterGrader.com Twitter Grader : Measure the power and authority of your twitter profile (can check top twitters by geo-location)
Twitteriti.com The World of Twitter and Microblogging "ideas to follow top 100 from here"
Technorati’s Real-time search for user-generated media (including weblogs) by tag or keyword. Also provides popularity indexes. Follow top 100.
Then get in the converstation using the @ sign. (you should have some tweets going alreay in your stream, nobody wants to follow a tweeter with no tweets!)

6# RT (ReTweet) with an @ sign
Sharing others information is siting the source, which can lead to others RT your tweets. Try using only 100 characters to leave room for a comment by the ReTweeter.

7# Search.Twitter.com
The instantaneous search, Real time search results. Did you know Google recently offered Twitter a Billion Dollars to acquire it. Most likely for the search.

Tip interlude: Hash-tag # a way to create taging information around a common term.
i.e #iranelections or at Blogworld Convention #BWE09

8# Upgrade your profile
use a custom background that matches your site, personality, a new promo, specials, books you author, etc.
It doesn’t have to stay static.

9# Play with some twitter apps, like
tweetdeck, split tweet, seemic-desktop, peoplebrowsr
bit.ly (shorten a url, and track the named link…cool custom twitter link with stats!)
tweetlater (is now socialOomph) for autoposting/sechuled posts. It’s useful before events your going to attend. Set to go off 5 mins before the event starts.

10# Three E’s of Social Media
1) Educate – Help someone, answers a question, point them/link them in the right direction
2) Entertain – Be funny, link to videos, music, etc.
3) Engage - use the @ sign and be involved in a converstation. Don’t let your twitter account, or any social account, stay dormant!
Also know as the the Two L’s :: Listen and Love

All in all it was a good webinar. I was refreshed on some things, learned some new things, gathered some great links, apps, and resources… all shared above.
Happy twittering

Since so many people have come to rely on the Internet for much of their information gathering and looking for product reviews to base their buying decisions on the act of being paid to write a review, very much like the act of being paid to do a endorsement on television, now must be disclosed.

You see those those late night infomercials that have the very tiny print at the bottom of the screen claiming this is a paid advertisement. Bloggers who are giving paid testimonials need to do a MUCH better job of letting their readers know that they are being compensated for their endorsements of the products and services they are reviewing. The advertisiers are not off the hook all together. They need to make it known to the bloggers that a disclosure is required now.

Who dares claim this needs to happen? Well none other than the FTC.
Some noteworthy quotes:

"For bloggers, the FTC stopped short of specifying how they must disclose conflicts of interest. Rich Cleland, assistant director of the FTC’s advertising practices division, said the disclosure must be "clear and conspicuous," no matter what form it will take."

"To placate such fears, Cleland said the FTC will more likely go after an advertiser instead of a blogger for violations. The exception would be a blogger who runs a "substantial" operation that violates FTC rules and already received a warning, he said."

Start of article:

FTC: Bloggers, testimonials need better disclosure

FTC: Bloggers must disclose freebies or payments; testimonials to reflect typical results

The Federal Trade Commission on Monday took steps to make product information and online reviews more accurate for consumers, regulating blogging for the first time and mandating that testimonials reflect typical results.

The FTC will require that writers on the Web clearly disclose any freebies or payments they get from companies for reviewing their products. The commission also said advertisers featuring testimonials that claim dramatic results cannot hide behind disclaimers that the results aren’t typical.

Just Found this in my inbox and I wish I had the time to really explore what this can really do for me. I hope to get around to it later….would be great if this was direct marketing to ad space on my sites. Sort of like what Linkworth offers. I will get around to looking at this deeper, or some other wiz marketing blogger will post details and I’ll find it through my RSS feeds later in the week. Or if you know, please post in the comments.

Dear AdSense publisher,

You’re invited to test a new publisher feature that can help you increase your earnings potential by making it easier for advertisers to find your sites. Last year, we launched a media planning tool for advertisers called Google Ad Planner, and heard feedback from publishers that they wanted a way to edit their site profiles in the tool and share their Google Analytics traffic data to ensure advertisers saw the most updated site information.

In response, we’ve just released the Google Ad Planner Publisher Center, which you can use to:

- Claim your site profile in Google Ad Planner.

- Make updates to your site’s public information, which will be displayed to advertisers.

- Ensure Google Ad Planner is showing the most compelling description and traffic data for your site.

As advertisers gain a better understanding of your sites, they can be more confident in bidding for ad placements on your pages. To see how your site is currently displayed in Google Ad Planner, visit the Google Ad Planner Publisher Center and search for your site. To get started managing your site profile, simply log in with your Google Account.

We hope you’ll take advantage of this opportunity to market your site more effectively to the tens of thousands of advertisers using Google Ad Planner. If you need help, please visit the Google Ad Planner Help Center.

As many of you who pay attention to the web and the PR that Google updates when it feels it is time to do so it, that time has come again. Some people are happy about the update and got a boost and some people are upset at the way the big G has changed (read made smarter) the alogo. I have to say that some of my sites that were PR 3 were all swatted down to PR 0. But the sites that I have been paying attention to and give a bit of linking action and content building have either gotten a boost from 0 to 3 or a body check and bumped down 1.

SEO is alive and well. Some people will tell you that doing SEO is not rocket science, but I and (others in this industry) would harshly disagree. To those who build out mini-sites on a regular basis or who work as a seo webmaster no, it is not rocket science, but what about the guy who doesn’t know what a HEADER 1 tag is? How about filling in a title so it doesn’t just say “New Document” –we have all see that one– Or how about Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI)? Or Good keywords from Bad keywords, check out the free trial at Wordtracker for that one. Key an eye out for anchor text a and using Alt tags in Images. Getting your hands wet using Adwords; writing a good ad verses writing a bad ad.And let us all remember to use a very basic robot.txt file to let in the happy spiders, crawlers and bots that come looking and to keep out the bad ones (well, when they listen) So if you get it great if you don’t then SEO is still alive and a profitable biz to be in. There is so much more to list but you get the point. SEO can be a full time job r at the bare minimum it should be used on page.

Domain Names are going up for sale!!! Take a look over at the CAC2007 auction. Moniker has a 2 week silent auction running therefrom May 2nd until the 16th I believe. And they all the domains they are willing to look over for the NYC 2007 TRAFFIC auction i their hands right now as I type. Well, to be fair they had those all in bundle last week, because April 26th was the last day to submit names for that monster of a domain name auction. Domainers Galore are all very excited about this event that will be held on June 19th-22 and the LIVE Domain name auction hosted by Moniker will run on June 21. Come watch the bigtime NY spenders come and get their rich hands on some of the coolest, er hottest names in the biz. Then again if you know that domains are only going to get more and more valuable (at least iof you know what to look for) then you will be holding on to your names for a wee bit longer. Best of luck to those that have names moving into the live auction and for the rest who will be in the silent auction may your reserve be high so you don;t get screwed out of your domain name(s)
