Well maybe not all people, but st some point you encounter the question, ” How do I make this file smaller?” The compression software that is built into Windows XP isn’t really all that great at compression files, but it bundles them up for you nicely so they attach easily in emails and for storing on disk. I was using Fipzip for a long time just to bundle files to deliver to clients and friends, but that program while serving me well over the years just plains sucks for compression. I only spent 5 mins looking around the web for a replacement to flipzip and found Just-ZipIT. Downloaded and installed and performed a zip on a .psd file that started as a 182MB. Filpzip only crunched it down to 180MB and that just will not do. But Just-ZipIT drop it down to just a tad over 25MB.

Now that is compression, Woot!

This tiny app was FREE,

Has an Award from Softpedia claiming 100% Clean

No Adware

No Spyware,

No Viruses.

I give it a solid rating after its ease of use and its power of smashing data down small.

Need to pick a few of those and give them the seed of development. Still trying to get regular posting here, put that in with the Lots of projects getting done. Oops, guess not this one….good thing blogging isn’t my source of income, but still I understand the power that a properly run blog can yield.

One only has to look to marketing to see who won the music wars back in late 80′s and early 90′s. We all know how powerful a jingle or tune can impact a consumer. Think Sprint’s “Pin Drop” sound. Or when you boot windows you are greeted with nice set of notes that make you almost feel, like the screen says, “welcome to windows.”

With that in mind let’s take a look at what Intel has done recently.

“While hip-hop artists frequently mention favorite brands in their songs, it’s pretty safe to say that tech stalwart Intel Corp. hasn’t been one of them — until now. And rather than rely on serendipity for a shout-out, Intel took matters into its own hands and commissioned a song from hip-hop/R&B musician Sean Kingston.” read rest of that article

On top of paying the artist, they sponsored the website, made up a video, and of course ringtones and let the world know that hip hop has Gotta Move Faster which is also the name of the Song that gives a Shout out to Centrino as the song opens. Check it out for yourself. Here

How can you not love Marketing

I’m not quite sure how it works and still on the fence on if I’m going to join, but for those that really get into the social networking, perhaps you would like to wake up to a social buddy’s alarm? If this sounds like the type of thing you’d be into then be sure and check out Ryan Spahn’s Sleep.fm Ryan has a few links on on his Blog TechAdvid that lead to some of his other “products” like http://www.notepadded.com/ which says it “Hand Coded Whatever” but I could not get the app to work in either Firefox or in I.E. 7 shame looked fun. The last link (beside his personal info) is for
Mubiquity(mew-bik-wha-tee)
Ubiquity – the state of being everywhere
Mubiquity – the state of music being everywhere

Neat idea, cool enough that I might even check back to see if/ when it is expected to go live. Nothing but a yellow page with bold blck text there now.

I have been wondering how to get my urls to be more search engine friendly. The first thing to do is get yourself a plugin and read Mr. Loren Baker’s Blog post on how to do just that. Here is the link : Friendly URL

There is a little more to it than just that. I am planning on getting down and dirty with my robots.txt file to block the spiders from getting to the duplicate content. Not sure exactly how to do it just yet, but hope to have it figured out soon.
