Spyware, Malware, & Trojans
So I have just spend the last 6 hours learning how to get the SmitFraud.c Trojan off my PC. Yeah it took that long, mostly because whenever I opened my browser (firefox 2.0.0.3) I would get pop ups via IE browser. That is pretty hardcore.
So I did some more searching /pop ups galore slowing me down/ and found SpyHunter.exe and it said it would kill the SmitFraud. c Trojan. Well I downloaded it, installed it, and ran it. It showed me all the problems this frigging bug dropped in my PC. 14 different Registry changes, 8 .dll files and like 100+ known spyware apps. Fuck me!
I click the remove button and the BUY ME-Full Version button pops up for SpyHunter. and they wanted $30 – UGH! It never said anything about paying for it. Then I knew this must not be legit. Most fixes are from the concerned open source community. So I look up SpyHunter and find out they are working with SmitFraud.c in some way.
Great I just dumped more crap in my PC via a claim that they were the fix ๐
So I hit the Spybot Search & Destroy forums (it was that program that couldn’t fix this Trojan

Page Rank, SEO, Domains
As many of you who pay attention to the web and the PR that Google updates when it feels it is time to do so it, that time has come again. Some people are happy about the update and got a boost and some people are upset at the way the big G has changed (read made smarter) the alogo. I have to say that some of my sites that were PR 3 were all swatted down to PR 0. But the sites that I have been paying attention to and give a bit of linking action and content building have either gotten a boost from 0 to 3 or a body check and bumped down 1.
SEO is alive and well. Some people will tell you that doing SEO is not rocket science, but I and (others in this industry) would harshly disagree. To those who build out mini-sites on a regular basis or who work as a seo webmaster no, it is not rocket science, but what about the guy who doesn’t know what a HEADER 1 tag is? How about filling in a title so it doesn’t just say “New Document” –we have all see that one– Or how about Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI)? Or Good keywords from Bad keywords, check out the free trial at Wordtracker for that one. Key an eye out for anchor text a and using Alt tags in Images. Getting your hands wet using Adwords; writing a good ad verses writing a bad ad.And let us all remember to use a very basic robot.txt file to let in the happy spiders, crawlers and bots that come looking and to keep out the bad ones (well, when they listen) So if you get it great if you don’t then SEO is still alive and a profitable biz to be in. There is so much more to list but you get the point. SEO can be a full time job r at the bare minimum it should be used on page.
Domain Names are going up for sale!!! Take a look over at the CAC2007 auction. Moniker has a 2 week silent auction running therefrom May 2nd until the 16th I believe. And they all the domains they are willing to look over for the NYC 2007 TRAFFIC auction i their hands right now as I type. Well, to be fair they had those all in bundle last week, because April 26th was the last day to submit names for that monster of a domain name auction. Domainers Galore are all very excited about this event that will be held on June 19th-22 and the LIVE Domain name auction hosted by Moniker will run on June 21. Come watch the bigtime NY spenders come and get their rich hands on some of the coolest, er hottest names in the biz. Then again if you know that domains are only going to get more and more valuable (at least iof you know what to look for) then you will be holding on to your names for a wee bit longer. Best of luck to those that have names moving into the live auction and for the rest who will be in the silent auction may your reserve be high so you don;t get screwed out of your domain name(s)
Have a great day and see ya soon. Oh yeah, if you don’t have a Second Life yet be sure to sign up using the link on the right side of this page. It’s free with the option to upgrade and there is a TON of business going on in this social networking 3D environment.
Domain Page Rank While Parkedโฆ
There has been a lot of talk in the industry about if a domain name can gain and/or maintain pagrank while pointed at a parking provider. I have proof now that both is possible and even sometimes out performs developing the parked domian name.
To clearify: I am only talking about using NameDrive as the parking provider. I did not test this out or try to make it happen. This PR happened all on its own and I just simply noticed it and then kept track of it over the past 4 months. December 2006 until this posting, where I feel confident in reporting my findings. Yes, my findings. I never found this out didn’t test this out.
The PR Status:
In one case I bought a name (a hyphenated .info) brand new never reg’ed before. I placed a site on it with mass directories and thousands of pages that all used the or related to the 2 word hyphenated domain. Did some basic SEO to Title tages, Meta data, site maps page, and link to it from 3 or 4 other sites (most pages linking to it we sub-directories and pages) One of the sites was a note worthy PR 4 and was Topic related the others were not. I submitted the site to SubmitExpress and let it be for a week. The site was crawled and the site stood on its own after the first month. It reached a PR 3 (lucky update came along) I noticed the site was using about 3 gigs of bandwidth a month for the few months but earning very little to make me want to keep the site up. I pulled my PR 4 link away (to use that link space for other projects) redirected the DNS to NameDrive and now around a year later or so it is still holding PR 3 Rank. Very cool.
Next case: I reg a dropped name (happy I got it too) It was deleted out of the system not a caught name. I never put a site on it. First I tried pointing the DNS at Sedo, but that place never earned me much and I would rather have the stats and control of the parked templates that NameDrive offers. I pointed the DNS over to NameDrive and then let it be. I made a few buck and I gathered my stats, although one day about 3 months ago I noticed it had a Page Rank of 3! Cool, but what caused this. I checked the backlinks and there aren’t any. Well there are two from different pages on one site with no ranking on the homepage or the pages the links come from. At to make it worse it is one of those “last chance to Register these domain Names because they are dropping in the next day” websites. So I am happy to report that the Domain name gained A PR 3 Just sitting at NameDrive. Nice!
Third (and last): I bought a name that had a PR 4 and got it for a very good price to boot. The name was parked at NameDrive when I got it and it showed a PR of 4 while Parked. So I left it there while I worked out a very basic site for the Domain Name and after 3 weeks ( I could have done it sooner, but other projects were ahead of it and I get distracted with other ofter and new projects too – you Domainers know what I’m talking about ๐ ) The site sold a few links off Text link ads and made it’s mondy back even got few clicks on the ole’ Adsense. But the bad news is even though I did the basics I tried before and still used on other site to get them listed, indexed, and hopefully ranked and making some money this one did all but go up in PR. Actually it went down. Geez. Well It’s still there, having dropped to PR 2 and dropped off my current projects list. Strange to because I put a site there and geared all the basic SEO stuff to the links that were coming in. Seems I should have either designed the site better or just left it parked at NameDrive…but you win some and lose some and hopefully learn something along the way. Also just wanted to say Thanks to ND.
Google is gaming with the Advertisers
Google, as most know, has been in the advertising game for a few years now. If you have been keeping up with google’s biz you know they do adsense and adwords and have been interested in getting into televesion marketing & advertising, youtube would make a nice soft lead into that when more people get with the program at start using their desktops and PCs as televisions (check out torrent for some of that fun!). They are not only after TV and video markets, but have bought an in-game advertising company based out of San Fran in California. See below

Q. What is Adscape Media?
A. Adscape Media is a small in-game advertising company based in San Francisco California. Adscape Media offers dynamic delivery of advertising with plot and storyline integration…..Read the rest of the info here
And google keeps on growing…be sure to look for an office suite soon from the Big G too!
We Are Printing Semiconductors! Really?
Seems that the world first semiconductor printing machine has arrived. I’m talking about a machine that works like an inkjet printer, but it sprays silver on to a substrate in a pattern that creates the circuitry layout. Whoa! Now that is some impressive technology. It prints 100sm thick and can be 10 atoms wide. That’s right ATOMS! Just to give you an idea a human hair is measured at 50,000nm (nm = nanaometers or one billionth of a meter) nm are larger than sm.
Well, what will they use this for? The Compay, NanoIdent,
says mostly for medicial science, security devices, and biometic locking devices.
Nanoident also claimed the ‘ink’ is absolutely 100 per cent environmentally friendly and has no waste. Because the precision used in the spraying process there is no extra product created. Well, seems if you able to get it down to 10 atoms wide you have got it worked out – No Waste.
I think that RFID technology and this company is a match made in the metavearse. I can see how “security” would get a real kick out of this new technology. Printed Semiconductors…We really are living in 2k….
