Do you uTorrent?

The web has it perks when you go looking for information, but the entertainment industry has got a beast on its hand when Average Joe sets off to finding media. FREE!
Seem you can find just about any TV show, Movie, Music File and more just using a simple pieces of software and a well feed website that has millions of users lached onto it. Yes they are “latched” onto a torrent-site complete with open ports and terrabytes of media. Different sites use different names for those who are latched on. Seems pretty common to see those providing the streams of media labled “Seedlings or Seeders” and those that are pulling the media off the seeders are called Leechers or Peers. Now that you know it can be done (scraping media from all over the web to your hardrive) How do you do it?

I didn’t know which client to download, seems everyone but me is already wise to this technology, and what would be a good site to search for torrents on and what will I need to use to play the Torrents…. I consulted with a friend about what he uses. He is really into this stuff and always had a few fun URLs to share about where to find good free media outside of the normal channels like abc.com, nbc.com cnn.com and the like. uTorrent

My friend sends me over to Utorrent.com to dowload their client. This is the software you will need to download the torrent file format and then he said not to bother with going to individual torrent provider sites and use a mega Torrent Searc site instead. Well, who am I to not take his advice. So i plugged in the URL into me addressbar and clicked “GO”That Torrent Search site is aptly named TorrentScan

Lastly you will a player that can read the torrent file format. Just do a search for I found the vlc-0.8.6a-win32 to work great for my PC. Just do a search for it “vlc-0.8.6a-win32”

Who knew that “player” was so cool…

I use several media players, that are installed on my PC when I am at my desk, but just a little while ago I was clicking from software to software windows and I hit the Windows Media Player Windows MediaWindow by mistake.Well, it pop-upped, looked like it always does, but this time I noticed that down in the lower left hand corner it was scrolling/blinking various bits of information at me about the music. I was curious so I stared at my screen to see what it was going to tell me about what was playing.

It told me the Name of the Band/Artist, Album, Song Name, and the composer of the song. Now that is pretty cool. I never noticed that before….hmmm, looks like there is far more information that is put on that CD before I burned it to my hard drive that I really ever gave much thought to. But who ever though that that WMP 11 (and those makeing the MASTER CD) would give listeners such details. Tapes never did that..haha.

ohh by the way, in case you were wondering, it was Dead Can Dance, Toward the Within, Flute Solo for Peace, Composed by Robert Perry. 😉

Which < ?php> include did I want?

This is used on .shtml pages within the same directory:
< !--#include file="file_name.php" -->
This is used on .php pages within the same directory:
< ?php include("file_name.php"); ?>This is used on .shtml pages to call a file in another directory:
< !--#include virtual="file_name.php" -->
typically it would look like this:
< !--#include virtual="/another_directory/file_name.php"-->If your regular pages end in .shtml, I would suggest using
< !--#include virtual="/another_directory/file_name.php"-->
and putting files like your header, footer, and navigation in that directory. It makes for easy maintenance down the road.

If you regular pages end in .php, I would suggest using
< ?php virtual ("/another_directory/file_name.php"); ?>
for the same reason.

I would like to thank NatureBoy from ABW for sorting that out!

Been lagging..

Whew, made it back and have a cool link for all you people wanting to learn php.

not much, but been so busy with the internet boomin’. Seems that 2007 (happy New Year, by the way 🙂 ) is proving that the Net is where it’s at

Yahoo at Christmas 2006

I was listening to the podcast of Danny Sullivan’s “Daily SeachCast” and heard him say Yahoo(ers) are upset because a memo got public that stated something to the notion that Yahoo offices in the USA will be closed from Christmas to New Years….and all employees are encourgae to take that time off, or rather they will be taking that time off for vacation, floating holiday time, or what have you with out pay. DON’T BE AT THE OFFICE YAHOO EMPLOYEES FROM CHRISTMAS TO NEW YEARS.

Yahoo Closed for Christmas

WOW, that is nice of that Mega-Coporation to give the busiest time of the year off to their employees, without pay. Sad for all those who will have problems with yahoo search, marketing, adverts, email, news, and on and on with all the “outlets” Yahoo owns. Geez, seem the customers will lose out on this one….hmmm why, why, why,

.info snatched in Bulk

Seem over the last few days alot of .info names are being picked up by pocketdomain .com coporate website is bouncingfish .com
The names are being snapped up by enmon and eNom doesn’t even offer .INFO with their public drop service.
This makes one wonder what is that bad smell in the air.

Comments over at NamePros & DNF has people crying that foul play is at work.

Any info you have feel free to add.

The Hyphen-ed Domain Name

I was walking through the local mall and noticed a domain name on a shop window. Charlotte-Russe.com

Hyphen-Domain-Names

I thought to myself, Back in 2000 when I bought my first domain name everybody was talking about when you register a name the hyphen was a bad idea.

Well now I see them all over, Just check out buydomains.com they don’t have a hyphened name for less than $488.00 And those who follow the domain/search industry know that you can get better search rankings when you use hyphen-names-to-climb-higher.

Funny how the changes come, how value is added, and search alogo’s are written.

This internet-thing is just unpredictable……
