FDA says food from cloned animals is safe…

I have thought about cloned animals as food since they first cloned Dolly, the most famous sheep in the world. The world debated how humans would be directly affected by Cloned food fo sale says FDAthe new technology was developed on Feb 22, 1997. How we could use such technology on humans for humans? Mostly discussions surrounded medical purposes, i.e to grow and farm organs to augment the lack provided by donors. With the news just out yesterday that they have taken a rat heart and “bleached” it of it’s dna cells, froze it, then re-animated it with different rat dna cells is a marvelous feat and I do look forward to the first time we do this with a pig heart. Why a pig heart? A pig’s heart can function in a human. Note, this is done by choice on individuals with consent.

Going from surgical use of animal parts, to MASS DISTRIBUTION of Cloned Animals for food is Continue reading

Writers Strike

I have only loosely been following the writers strike in Hollywood. But after a little looking I found the video on youtube that gives the “quick lowdown” on what started the thing back on Nov. 1 2007. I’ll post that here.

Being a publisher online involved in marketing and advertising I think that the Networks are being unfair. I urge those who have not to sign up the petition, watch the vid, read the blogs and support the writers. They give “birth” to the scripts and should get the extra 4 cents on residuals. The intenet should be helping people make money not stopping them.

WooHoo! Tabs for Windows Explorer

Today I was reading an article in MaximumPC that told of the wonders of TAB BROWSING FOLDERS on a PC. I was in shock….once the initial concept seeded itself in my overly-exited-techie-brain I scanned the article and saw that it was listed under a Vista Headline and my hope sank. But I went to the website they suggested in there Tiny URL Fashion anyway.

Once I was there I read over the specs and found that Windows XP is also supported. Tabbed Folders Windows ExplorerSweet! I like the way Vista “looks” but I really need the performance and reliability of XP.

OK, I see that I need to do some “upgrading” to windows before I can use the super-cool functions of Tabs right there in my folders.

I see I need install .NET Framework 2.0

So I head over to Microsoft and download it. At the end of the download and install (2-3 mins. over a cable connection) I get a warning that I should make sure I have the latest updates for the .NET Framework 2.0. After a little hunting on the MS site I see that there is a patch aptly named .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pac1. I download and install that too (2-3 mins on this one also.) Ok great my machine is now ready for the wonders of tabbed folders. Yeah!

I go back the URL provided by MaximumPC and download QT TabBar for Windows XP, create a new folder drop in the zip file and extract the many compressed files therein. I click on the .exe file, a window pops up and asks if I would like to Install or UN-install The QT TabBar. You know the one I click and after the very very quick install I was instructed to immediately log off my pc (not turn off) so I log out and in, causing windows to find the new TabBar application.Continue reading

Printing Medication on skin?

Hate going to the doctor for shots to keep you healthy?

Don’t like taking pills either?

Those forms of administering medications are soon going to be a thing of the past with a little help from a well known and wide spread, technology used hundreds of thousands of times each day. The technology was developed at HP LAbs  skin patch uses microneedles that barely penetrate the skin.  The microneedles are spread across a patch which sticks to the skin and pumps out medication using Inkjet technology. The  microneedle skinskin chip patch has plans to also include timed medication release aimed at those who need help taking their medication or are forgetful. The microneedle patch will  hold multiple types of medications and could release them in concert or at different timed intervals much like the different colors shot out of the inject nozzles. This is some pretty cool tech gear.

Crospon (makers of medical devices based in Ireland ) is on the forefront of marketing the technology to diabetics to ease the regular injections of insulin.

Vice president of intellectual-property licensing at HP stated,  “By licensing  core intellectual property in thermal inkjet technology for uses in a drug-delivery product, HP breathes new life into its mature technology while capitalizing on the booming health-care and life-sciences market.

The miconeedle-inkjet-patch is expected to hit mainstream pharmaceutical markets in the next 2 to 4 years.
